MCDC and Williamson Memorial Brings free services in November

WILLIAMSON - Do you experience extreme fatigue, blurry vision, frequent urination and thirst? Have you ever wondered if you have Diabetes or not?

In celebration of National Diabetes Month, Mingo County Diabetes Coalition will team up with Williamson Memorial Hospital and additional organizations to provide free diabetes screenings and education to the community on Thursday, November 7th from 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the Southside Mall.

Serving nearly 100 community members last year, the organizations wishes to serve 200 community members if possible.

A few of the services are as mentioned:

FREE A1c Testing

FREE Blood Glucose & Lipid Panel Labs (no drinking or eating 8hrs prior)

FREE Flu Vaccine to 1st 100 participants

FREE Diabetes Educational Materials

FREE Door Prizes

In addition to the free services, you are invited to attend the Diabetes Dish Cook-Off. Enter your Diabetes friendly entrées, desserts, or side dishes before 11AM to be judged for the grand prize. A recipe must accompany the dish and will be judged on Carbohydrate count and taste.

We invite anyone who wishes to participate to join us Thursday for services for the entire family. Flu shots will only be given to the 1st 100 participants, so be sure to arrive early so we can help you in the best way possible.
