WVU basketball recruit Jonathan Holton, whose eligibility was in question throughout the spring and summer because of legal issues and the fact he needed to finish junior college coursework, has been added to the Mountaineer basketball roster.

The 6-foot-7 forward has been put on the roster, which seems to indicate he is the sixth and final signee from the 2013 recruiting class to be cleared for admission.

Meanwhile, freshman Elijah Macon was cleared to enroll at WVU, but his status for the upcoming season is still unknown.

Macon is a partial qualifier and is also nursing a wrist injury. He may have to redshirt, but there is still a possibility that he may get to play this year as a true freshman.

With the addition of Holton, the transfer of Palm Beach State (Fla.) to the program, it will give head coach Bob Huggins more depth at forward.

Huggins has revamped his roster and will only have five players back from last year’s squad. Three graduated and the others transferred.

Holton was one of the best freshmen in the Atlantic 10 during his one season at Rhode Island. However, legal problems ultimately led to his being dismissed from the school. From there Holton went to junior college in his home state of Florida, averaging 17.5 points and 14.1 rebounds per game for Palm Beach State. He helped that team finish the 2012-13 season with a 29-3 record.

Macon is a four-star power forward who has attended prep school the last two seasons. He played for Huntington Prep (WV) two years ago.

Other newcomers this year to the Mountaineer rosters are Nate Adrian, Devin Williams and Brandon Watkins. They all enrolled this summer, while junior college signee Remi Dibo came aboard earlier in August.

Adrian is a Morgantown High School product and Class AAA all-stater. Watkins is also ranked as a 4-star recruit by some recruiting services.
