Letter to the Editor:
I was amused to see that Harry Keith White and Justin Marcum have asked for a second judgeship tonight. “Team Mingo” member (White) did nothing to support the two-judge bill that Senator Chafin passed in the senate twice for our county, despite his “influential” position in the House.
He never introduced a bill once while fellow “Team Mingo” member Thornsbury was on the bench. In fact, while Thornsbury was on the bench not one member of Team Mingo in the House made ANY effort to ask for a second judge. White has made no effort on the house side to support Chafin’s bills which had passed in the senate.
Isn’t it a little late for Harry Keith White to jump on this bandwagon? Isn’t he a little late to the party? Don’t be fooled. While I applaud his efforts now, our county needs to speak with one voice in the senate and the house and no effort was made to work with Chafin on the senate side or even to consult him about it, despite the fact that Michael Sparks encouraged them to work together.
We either work together to clean this place up or we suffer alone. I suggest that those in the senate and the house put their petty differences and individual political ambitions aside and work together for all of us, instead of just themselves.
I applaud Truman for his past successful efforts in twice passing a bill for a second judgeship. There’s not much to say about Harry Keith White being missing in action until fellow Team Mingo Member Thornsbury imploded.
