The Mingo County Babe Ruth baseball team won two out of three games over the weekend.
Mingo beat Belfry 8-3 on Friday night at the Hardy Park. Zack Blackburn got the win on the mound as he struck out five batters. He was relieved by Raahkim Gray, who had a single and two RBIs.
Kenny Allen had three hits for Mingo, including a double, while Noah Lucas had two doubles. Blackburn also helped his own cause with a double.
For Belfry, Austin Dotson was the starting pitcher, while Aaron Taylor also saw action on the mound. Ethan Salmons led Belfry in hitting with two doubles, Cahill Russell and Lee McCoy each had a single.
Mingo split a doubleheader with Logan on Saturday. The games were played at Logan.
The home team won the first game 13-10, while Mingo came back and won the nightcap 12-3.
Josh Murphy doubled and had three RBIs for Mingo, while Allen had three hits including a triple. Lucas, Christopher Hurley, Zach Samuel each had two singles, while Nate Sanger had a base hit. The losing pitcher was Thomas Harmon.
In the second game, Samuel was the winning hurler for Williamson. He only allowed two hits and he had nine strikeouts. Samuel helped his own cause with three hits, which included a double and two RBIs.
Harmon and Lucas each had two singles, while Cody Spaulding and Chase Varney also had singles.
