Cinderella Emma Dillard Moore , 87 of Red Jacket, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2013 in Williamson Memorial Hospital in Williamson.
She was born October 24, 1925 in Bay City, Michigan to the late Arron Dillard, Sr. and Emma Campbell Dillard. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two blessed husbands, Deacon John Ed Moore, Sr. and Pastor L.C. Howard, sons, Gordan V. Moore and Reverend Lorenzo Howard, grandson, Peter Juan Moore, granddaughter, Melissa Jeanette Howard, great grandson, Even Jacob Starghill, Sister Helen Summers, brother, Aaron Dillard, II, and niece Helen Horton.
She and her family journeyed from Bay City, Michigan to Puritan, Kentucky, then to Lando Mines and later to Red Jacket.
She accepted the Lord at the age of 13 under the pastorialship of the Reverend J.W. Stoudemire and became a faithful, dedicated member of Mt. Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church. At the age of 14, she became the church pianist and played for the youth choir and Sunday School. She held the office of Secretary of Treasury of the Building Fund. She was a member, pianist and treasurer for the Tug River and Pond District singing Convention, a member of the West Virginia State Convention Choir, a member of the Evening Tide Chapter #26 Order of the Eastern Stars. She was a 1943 graduate of Liberty High School with Honors. She furthered her education by taking typing and bookkeeping classes at Matewan High School, and extension classes through West Virginia State Baptist Association. She was an avid crossword puzzler and scrabble player. She enjoyed bowling and tennis. She was a Proverbs 31 homemaker and she worked for Frank Allara, President of Matewan National Bank, signing up the elderly for the Medicare Program. She was a housekeeper, babysitter and dogsitter.
Survivors are three sons John E. (Michelle) Moore, II of Duluth, Minnesota, Henry Clay (Christina) Moore of Red Jacket and Reverend Clayton E. (Brenda) Howard of Sandusky, Ohio, seven daughters Bessie Mae Majors of Columbus, Ohio, Gloria Howard of Columbus, Ohio, Carolyn (Charles) Rowell, II of Atlanta, Georgia, Helen (Marvin) of Atlanta, Georgia, Dreama Howard Slappy of Columbus, Ohio, Dovie A. (Tim) Wilburn of Huntington, Evangelist Eudora (Conrad) Howard of Huntington, West Virginia, adopted daughter, Eileen (Reverend David) Bell of Williamson, sister-in-law, Mary Moore of Junction City, Kansas, brother-in-law, Walter M. Moore of Peoria, Illinois, special friend and brother, Erskine T. Davis of Matewan, special friend, Hobert Tucker of Omar, 47 grandchildren, 82 great grandchildren, 13 great-great grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Saturday, June 1st at 12 noon at Mt. Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church in Red Jacket. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Pallbearers will be Grandsons, Isaia Allen, Larry Baker, Eddie Humphreys, Ron Joplin, Jason Moore, Reginald Moore, Kelvin Spotts, Eric Starghill, Timothy Wilburn, Jr. and Charles Rowell. Reverend David Bell will officiate. Interment will be in Mountain View Memory Gardens, Maher.
