PIKEVILLE, Ky. - Police say the Pikeville 911 Center received a call Sunday morning reporting that an inmate, Brandon K. Damron, had walked away from work detail at the Pike County Detention Center.
Officers say the 21-year-old was doing his required work detail on site at the detention center when he got away.
Lieutenant Aaron Thompson commented on the incident, saying that employees advised him they had an inmate who was on work detail that walked off undetected. Officials say that Damron is from the Kimper area in Pike County, and was being held on charges of theft and contempt of court charges.
“Our whole goal here is to get this subject back under arrest and back in the detention center where he belongs,” stated Pike County Public Safety Director Paul Maynard.
Officials say they need the public’s help to do that, so they are doing everything possible to make sure folks are aware of this escaped inmate.
“This time we are also using social media, we’ve got it out on Facebook and we are looking for people to share it and get the word out there more,” said Maynard. His hopes are that Damron will be located and he will once again be incarcerated in the detention center.
Officials are asking anyone with information about Damron’s whereabouts to contact the Pikeville Police Department at 606-437-5111.
