GOODY, Ky. – Belfry High School will be hosting the 60th District baseball and softball tournaments on Monday and Wednesday May 20 and 22.
On that Monday, the Pirate baseball team will host Phelps at 6:30 p.m. The winner will play Pike County Central on Wednesday at 8 p.m., according to Belfry’s Todd Cassell, director for the tourneys.
The softball game will start at 6 p.m. on Monday with Phelps going up against Pike County Central. The winner will play Belfry’s Lady Pirates on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
Belfry’s baseball team is coached by Michael Hagy, while Ryan Chapman coaches the softball team.
As of Friday, May 17, the Pirate baseball team had one regular season game left. They were scheduled to play at Lawrence County on Thursday and Sheldon Clark on today (Friday), weather permitting.
The softball team had a 14-17 record as of Thursday, May 16, playing a very tough schedule and losing their top two players from last season. Brooke Branham is now playing at Pikeville, while Brooke Williamson moved to Johnson Central. Williamson is one of the top rated players in the region.
