WILLIAMSON — An alleged intoxicated female was taken into custody on Saturday night after officers encountered her on a downtown street in an intoxicated state and partially dressed.
Williamson Police Department (WPD) Lt. G.P. Dotson and Patrolman J.L. Marcum were on patrol in Williamson near the GNV Bar when they observed Shannon Swafford, 30, of Turkey Creek, Ky., staggering down the roadway of Dickenson Street and 2nd Avenue wearing only a shirt and underwear. Officers approached Swafford and detected a strong alcoholic odor on her breath and person. When asked where she was walking to and what she was doing, the defendant allegedly began yelling that she had been in a fight and stated that the other party, who she said was named “Big Ashley” and had won the Rough n’ Rowdy female division boxing contest “did not whip her ass”.
Officers attempted to calm the irate female down but were unsuccessful in their attempts. Her mother was called to the scene to take responsibility for her but was unable to do so since her daughter was banned from being in the apartment building where she lives because of a previous episode of drunkenness and unruly behavior.
Swafford was arrested by Dotson and Marcum and was transported to the WPD station where an alcohol blood content breathalyzer test was administered, with the results being .230, nearly three times the legal limit of .80.
The defendant was arraigned before Magistrate Pam Newsome on three misdemeanor charges of obstructing an officer, intoxication or drinking in public places and disorderly contact, and was incarcerated in the Southwestern Regional Jail at Holden until which time she met the requirements and stipulations of her bond.
