Local woman named collegiate scholar

WILLIAMSON — A local woman and recently Belfry High School graduate was recently named a collegiate scholar.


Taylor Paige Miles, of Hardy, Ky., accepted membership in the National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS).


Taylor is currently completing her sophomore year at Eastern Kentucky University, in Richmond, Ky., where she is majoring in pre-med biology. Her ultimate goail is becoming a physician’s assistant. She graduated summa cum laude from BHS in 2011.


The NSCS is a member of the Associaton of College Honor Societies and is the nation’s only interdisciplinary honors organization for first and second-year college students. Membership is by invitation only, based on grade-point average and class standing.s.


The NSCS has nearly one million lifetime members and 300 chapters across all 50 states.


“(It’s) more than just a symbol of academic achievement,” Stephen Loflin, NSCS founder and CEO, said. “Membership gives students access to a number of amazing benefits including career and networking resources, scholarships, travel and service projects both on campus and in the community.”
