Edna Marie Dempsey, 74, of Duncan Fork, passed away February 6, 2013, at the Appalachian Regional Hospital in South Williamson, Ky.
She was born May 6, 1938, at Rife Branch, the daughter of the late Dave and Myrtle Sturgill Adams.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Claude “Buddy” Dempsey; daughter, Elizabeth Ann Wellman; sister, Betty Jean Wellman; brother, Milton Lewis Adams; and great-granddaughter, Brittany Jo Marcum.
She was a loving wife, homemaker and mother of three.
Her survivors include her children, Bonnie Dempsey and Billy Ray (Kathy) Dempsey both of Duncan Fork; sisters, Janice Adams of Dunlow, Mary (Randall) Bridgette of Huntington, Lina (Julius) Young of Dunlow; brothers, Dave (Rose) Adams of Gilman Drive, Jesse Adams of Logan, Donald Adams of Dunlow, Danny (Donna) Adams of Dunlow and Robert (Kim) Adams of Huntington. She also has seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Lilly of the Valley Freewill Baptist Church at Rife Branch, Sunday February 10, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Gene Goodman officiating. Burial will follow in the Dempsey Cemetery at Duncan Fork. Visitation will be at the Church Saturday after 5 p.m. with services at 7 p.m. Pallbearers will be John Sturgill, Wilburn Jude, Matthew Gillman, Bryan L. Muncy, Bryan Muncy and Virgil Sammons Jr.
