Lady Hillbillies cage Lady Panthers
MAN – The Lady Hillbillies of Man High School caged the Lady Panthers of Tug Valley 67 to 51 on Thursday night at the Man Fieldhouse.
All-state candidate Summer Sword fired in 27 points for Man. She also pulled down nine rebounds. Morgan Conn helped her team with 17 points, while Taylor Whited banked in 10 and hauled in 12 rebounds for the Lady Billies. Mika McCoy added nine for the home team.
Whitney Evans-Kirk once again led Tug Valley with 19 points, while Amber Linville scored 11 and hauled in a game-high 15 rebounds. Emily Baisden, Adreana Vance and Katie Robinson each scored seven for the Lady Panthers. Baisden also had nine rebounds.
Tug Valley played without the services of Hannah Armstrong for the second straight game due to an injury.
In the final quarter Man outscored Tug Valley 20-7 to pull away.
“No excuses; we just got beat by the better team tonight. We are learning that life without Hannah is hard but, injuries are a big part of sports and we will get better if, the girls want to get better,” Said Tug Valley coach Okey Smith. “I thought that Emily Baisden and Katie Robinson played better tonight and those two freshmen will only get better as the season continues. I give Man credit they are a good team and just took it to us tonight; we look forward to playing them later on in the season.”
Tug Valley is now (8-5) on the season, we play James Monroe at home on Saturday at 3:30.
Man is now (9-4) on the season, they play at Logan on Monday at 1:00.
