Martha Coleman Varney, 58, of Ransom, Ky., passed away Friday, December 7, 2012, at her residence.
Born July 14, 1954, in Pike County, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Wade and Martha Jetilee Smith Coleman.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband Carl Douglas Varney; one son Billy Joe Varney; two brothers Wade Coleman Jr. and Bruce Edward Coleman; and one sister Janice Marie Coleman.
She was a former restaurant worker and was of the Church of God faith.
Survivors include one son Carl Douglas Varney Jr. of Ransom; two daughters Sabrina Gail (Ted “Bo”) Slone of Ransom, and Angela Carol (Billy) Slone with whom she made her home at Ransom; one brother James Earl Thompson of Illinois; one sister Claudia Maynard of Rawl; three grandchildren Angel Slone, Kimberly Slone, and J.D. Varney; special nieces and nephews Claudia Rene Hurley, Michael Hurley, Jackie Charles, Robbie Varney, and Shannon, Jennifer, Lisa, Debbie, and Carrie Varney; a special great-nephew Joshua Blake Hurley; and her special dog P-Nut.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, December 10, at noon from the Hatfield Funeral Chapel at Toler, Ky., with Elder Mike Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Varney Cemetery on the Left Fork of Blackberry, Ransom, with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the funeral home with special services nightly at 7 p.m.
