Franklin D. Sanson, 76, of Williamson, departed this life on Saturday, November 24, 2012, at the Williamson Memorial Hospital.
Born on November 29, 1935, in Majestic, Ky., Franklin was the son of the late Robert and Bertha Ferrell Sanson.
In addition to his parents, Franklin is preceded in death by his loving wife, Janice Butler Sanson.
Franklin served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 - 1959 and was stationed in Alameda, Calif. During his four year stint he enjoyed traveling to numerous ports in China and most of Southeast Asia. Upon returning to America, he worked for the Kentucky State Highway Department and the McCoy - Alma Coal Company before retiring from his job as a property manager in Arvada, Colo. Most recently Franklin enjoyed working as a greeter at the South Williamson Walmart.
Franklin was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in West Williamson and he also enjoyed attending services at the Matewan Missionary Baptist Church in Matewan.
He leaves to honor his loving memory and mourn his passing, daughter June Sargent of San Francisco, Calif.; brother Ernest Sanson, currently residing in the Philippines; sister Helen Jean Blankenship of Majestic, Ky. Franklin is also survived by nephews Robert and Bud Sanson and a host of family members and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Honoring services will be conducted Thursday, November 29, at 1 p.m. at the Chambers Funeral Services Chapel with the Rev. Carl Butler officiating. Burial will follow at the Mountain View Memory Gardens at Huddy, Ky. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will begin receiving friends on Wednesday, November 28, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the funeral home chapel.
