SPECIAL TO THE DAILY NEWS
The STOP Coalition and Crossroads Recovery Home for Women will celebrate Crossroads’ third anniversary Saturday, Sept. 29 at 5 p.m. at STOP’s new offices located next to the Gilbert Post Office.
The event will also serve as a grand opening for STOP’s new offices, the expansion of Crossroads and the opening Crossroads’ long-term transitional-living apartment. Entertainment, refreshments and food will be provided.
Because of high demand for substance abuse recovery services, Crossroads has increased the number of available beds from eight to ten and has added a three-bedroom apartment for residents who have graduated from Crossroads’ program.
Since its opening three years ago, Crossroads has served 72 women from 23 counties throughout WV with long-term recovery services. Crossroads has maintained operations with community support through grants, donations, and in-kind support.
In addition to substance abuse prevention and early intervention services, the coalition works extensively to organize the community around substance abuse issues.
A variety of recovery-based services are offered through Crossroads Recovery Home. In-house AA/NA meetings are held weekly. Transportation is provided to meetings at other locations nearby.
Crossroads Recovery Home is a certified facility in Recovery Dynamics which is an evidence-based 12-step program that allows the counselor to have a deeper understanding of recovering from addiction and to relay that understanding clearly and efficiently to the group. The curriculum consists of lessons, activities, homework, and discussions that assist residents in working the 12-steps.
