PRESTONSBURG — Even though it has been several months since tornadoes and severe weather devastated several Eastern Kentucky counties, Highlands Health System hasn’t forgotten about those who were affected.
In March, Highlands’ physicians, administration and employees began raising money for the affected areas. Immediate aid, such as food, clothing, and toiletries, was taken to those in need. But as the months went on, Highlands continued to raise funds.
In this joint effort, HRMC staff was able to raise around $10,000 and distributed that money to the counties that were hit by the storm. As soon as processes were put in place in the counties, the money was disbursed.
“This shows great compassion by our Highlands family. We have not forgotten our patients, community members, and fellow employees that may still be dealing with the aftermath of the storm,” said Harold C. Warman Jr., president and CEO, of Highlands Health System.
